Nobestbfor Takes Top Class At CDP
Nobestbfor won the Saturday night feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino. The brown gelding toured the legendary Charlottetown Driving Park oval in 1:56.2.
Owner-driver Walter Cheverie sent Nobestbfor to the front and cruised through fractions of :28, :58.1 and 1:27.1 en route to the victory. Veronicavermillion was second for Brian MacPhee while Talk Back and Thane Arsenault completed the triactor. The 2-7-5 combination paid $238.70.
Majian Chester, with James Ripley in the bike, delivered as the post time favourite in the trot class scoring by open lengths in 2:02.1. Duvar Road (Norman Myers) and Dunmore Alpha (Ted Smallwood) rounded out the top three.
Ron Matheson had a driving double on the night. The former Charlottetown driving champion teamed up with trainer Darren Smith and owner Ernest Smith of Rocky Point to win with Yankee No More in 2:00.3. Matheson came back with Keystone Dimitri, trained by his son Jackie for owner Shirley Weeks of Hunter River, in 1:58.2 in the 10th race.
Driver Vaughn Doyle notched his 998th career win aboard Trump Play for Bill Kinney of Hunter River. Doyle only needs two victories to join the 1,000 win club.
