Hurts So Bad Repeats In B.C. Breeders
Fresh off a win in last weekend's opening leg of the Mary Murphy B.C. Breeders Stakes for sophomore pacing fillies, Hurts So Bad returned to victory lane during Saturday's second session for trainer/driver Bill Davis.
In the evening's first $7,500 division, Davis sent Hurts So Bad to the lead from fourth after the :27-second opening panel and the favourite cruised through middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:26.4 en route to the career-best 1:57.1 triumph. Pureform Pandora (Scott Knight) finished three lengths behind in second and Yanotherhos (Brad Watt) was third.
Hurts So Bad paid $3.10 to win. The homebred Power Of Art-Scruffian filly is owned by the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. She now has two wins in 10 seasonal starts.
The other division was won by Im Tu Die For, a runner-up in the first leg to Hurts So Bad, who rallied home off cover to prevail this time out by half a length over Allittleforplace (Serge Masse) in 1:58.2. Davis' other opening leg winner, Shadow Time, finished nearly three lengths behind in third during round two.
Glenn White trains and drives the Allamerican Cobalt-Gypsy Soul filly for owner Ron Julien of Langley, B.C. The win was also her second in 10 seasonal starts and fastest yet. Im Tu Die For paid $16.40 for the mild 7-1 upset.
The third preliminary round of the B.C. Breeders Stakes for sophomore fillies will be held on Friday, October 18 followed by the fourth leg on Sunday, November 3. The finals will take place on Monday, November 11.
