The Pennsylvania Fair Harness Horsemen's Association has issued an update in regard to horseman Roger Hammer, who was recently involved in a serious traffic accident.

The PA Fair Harness Horsemen's Association had initially reported yesterday (Wednesday, August 28) that Hammer had refused treatment at the scene after his truck and trailer were struck by a tanker truck.

On Thursday, August 29, the horsemen's association issues a release stating that, according to sources, Hammer began experiencing pain Wednesday evening. According to the report, Hammer went to his local hospital after experiencing pain. It was then discovered that he had three cracked vertebrae in his neck.

As of 12:00 noon on Thursday, Hammer remained hospitalized, but was expecting to be released later Thursday.

Passenger Vickie Mock was treated and released yesterday with broken ribs.

Only one horse out of six in his Eby Trailer suffered a minor cut. All others were uninjured.

Trot Insider will update this story when more information is made available.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing all of those affected by the accident a speedy and complete recovery.
