White Ruffles Series Continues At The Big M

Thong Song made a huge rally down the stretch to win the second of three $12,500 White Ruffles divisions, the seventh race, on Thursday night at the Meadowlands

.

With Andy Miller in the sulky, Thong Song scored her second straight win of 2009 in 1:54.1. JK Reunited (Brian Sears) was 2 1/2 lengths back in second, while EQ Three (David Miller) was another 2 1/2 lengths behind in third. Thong Song paid $4.20, $3.20, and $2.60.

Erv Miller trains the four-year-old mare by Art Major-Armbro Thavage. Thong Song has now boosted her earnings to more than $40,000 for owners Riverview Farms, Michael Sofer, John Fodera, and R A W Equine.

Orphan Annie also made it two in a row when she took the first division of the White Ruffles. Yannick Gingras popped the pocket, moved three wide at the top of the stretch and took control to win the night’s fourth race in 1:55.4. Orphan Annie is trained by Ronnie Burke and owned by Frank Baldachino.

A Patchy Frost took the lead at the half and was met with a late rally by Lightning Treasure down the stretch for a dead heat in the last division of the White Ruffles in 1:54.1. With Cat Manzi in tow, A Patchy Frost paid $5.80, $4.80, and $3.60. A Patchy Frost is trained by Homer Hochestetler and is owned by James Henry Springer. Lightning Treasure and Ron Pierce paid $6.60, $6.00, and $3.60. Lightning Treasure is trained by Anthony Mannino and owned by the Lightning Stable.

The $50,000 estimated White Ruffles Final is next Thursday, January 22.
