Andrew Memorial Thursday At CDP

Two-year-old trotters will meet for stakes action Thursday night at Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 12-dash card is 7:00 p.m. Two divisions of the Blair Andrew Memorial for two-year-old trotters will head to post for Race 2 and Race 6, respectively.

The $7,825 split in Race 2 has a compact five-horse field. The field does not include a horse that has won a stakes race to this point in their careers. The race includes, from the rail out, IC Caviar (to be driven by Joey Pineau), Usain Colt (Campbell), Seanchai (Mark McKinnon), Scarlet MacDream (Darryl Maclean) and Lace (Brian Andrew).

Bo Digger has been favoured early for Race 6 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Zack MacEwen of Stratford. The Bo W freshman was a winner in 2:06.3 during Old Home Week racing --- the performance was the fastest pari-mutuel mile trotted by any horse in stakes events.

The others in the Race 6 field are Southfield Shadow (Terry Gallant), Ice Pop (Ron Gass), Hope Chest (Walter Cheverie), Lets Trade Ladies (Garth Cole) and Windemere Image (Gary Chappell).

The field for the pacing feature will line up for Race 11. Eight pacers will compete for a purse of $2,000. Roscoes Child is the morning-line favourite and will start from Post 1 for driver Brodie MacPhee, trainer Raymond White and owner Selkirk Stable of Belfast. The Collector Rd seven-year-old has not missed the board in his last seven starts. His competition will come in the form of Camcun (Kenny Arsenault) from Post 2, Van Zant (Ron Matheson) from Post 5, fresh off a 1:54.4 victory Gold Cup and Saucer night, and Creighton Hanover (Chappell), who will start from the outside Post 7.

Live racing will then continue Saturday night at the CDP starting at 6:00 p.m. Red Shores' Summerside Raceway will then host live racing action race on Monday afternoon (September 2, Labour Day) starting at 1:00 p.m. There will be no Sunday afternoon card in Summerside this week.
