Record-Setting Mile In ATSS
The afternoon portion of Thursday’s double header at the Charlottetown Driving Park featured an historic performance by Lovineveryminute, who became the half-mile oval’s fastest, two-year-old pacing filly of all-time thanks to her 1:56.1 score in the first of three $10,220 ATSS ‘A’ divisions. The performance took a full second off the former track standard set by Southview Special on September 30, 2006.
Gilles Barrieau got away third with Lovineveryminute while Elm Grove Inarush shot to the top and sliced out splits of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.1. Lovineveryminute rallied late and used a :29.2 closing quarter to secure the win by 3-1/4 lengths over the pacesetting Elm Grove Inarush. Pictonian Sareta was a distant third.
Sent off as the even-money favourite, Lovineveryminute is now 5-for-5 to begin her career for trainer Earl Watts. The daughter of Western Paradise-Deliver Me is a homebred owned by River Valley Management of Quispamsis, NB. She’s stashed away $18,792 to date.
Absolootly Hot captured the second division in a career-best clocking of 1:59.4 for driver Scott Hubbard and trainer Sean Dooley. The daughter of Coastocoast Yankee-Leah Hall sped through fractions of :30, :59.4 and 1:29.3 before using a :30.1 kicked to seal the deal. She won by two lengths over Emily Annabel Mac, with Fleurje taking home the show dough.
Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, NS and Scott Hubbard of Saint John, NB own the youngster who improved her record to 2-2-0 from five tries with the win. Her bank account now stands at $9,704.
Despite being parked out every step of the mile, Saulsbrook Alana prevailed in the final division for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Kevin MacLean. The Western Paradise-Atlanta Girl miss got up to win by a half-length margin over Dusty Lane Dora in a career-best clocking of 1:57.4. Sea Anna Win rounded out the top three finishers.
The victory improved the filly’s record to 2-1-2 from five trips to the track, and the lion’s share of the purse lifted her lifetime earnings to $11,406. She is owned by Reg Mac Pherson of Stratford, PEI.
A pair of $2,500 ‘B’ divisions were also contested by two-year-old pacing fillies, with Babies Gigolo (1:59.3) and P H Sunshine (2:02) capturing their respective assignments.
