Brenda Ohol Passes
Brenda A. Ohol, 49, of Lockport, N.Y., died Aug. 11, 2013, in Eastern Niagara Hospital after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's) disease.
She was born in Batavia, N.Y., on Oct. 18, 1963, a daughter of Ronald and Patricia (Swift) Lederhouse. She was a graduate of Akron Central High School, class of 1981, and attended St. Teresa's RC Church in Akron.
She had a love for horses and for many years she and her husband were owners and trainers at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway.
Mrs. Ohol began her training career in 1991. Throughout her career her trainees won 690 races and earned $2,847,997 in purse money. Some of her top racehorses were Open pacers, Adelias Prince, Omnibus, Heartland Overload and the New York Sire Stakes trotter Collier St. Bobby.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael; sister, Lisa Lederhouse; daughter, Courtney; step-children, Justina, Michael Jr. and Melinda; and grandchildren, Brittney, Brianna, Ariel and Charli.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday (Aug. 15) from 4-7 p.m. in the Childs Funeral Home, LLC, 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (Aug. 16) at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa RC Church, 5771 Buell St., Akron. Burial will be in St. Teresa's Cemetery.
