McIntosh & Condren Double Up In OSS
Hall of Famers Bob McIntosh and Steve Condren added to their long list of stakes victories Tuesday evening at Georgian Downs thanks to OSS Grassroots scores with Lenny Mac and Chelseas Chance.
Those were two of the six divisions contested on a night that saw another Hall of Famer – trotting sire Kadabra – shine. The multi-talented producer of stakes winners watched three of his daughters take the checkered flag in their respective $15,000 assignment.
McIntosh and Condren joined forces and won with Lenny Mac in a career-best clocking of 2:00.3. The daughter of Kadabra-Lend A Hand was on top at every call during the mile, and she poured it on late to win by 5-1/2 lengths over Mount Juliette. Third prize went to Majestic Jewel.
Sent off as the 2-5 choice in the nine-filly affair, Lenny Mac improved her rookie record to 2-1-0 from four trips to the track. Robert McIntosh Stables Inc of Windsor and Earl Hill, Jr. of Ohsweken, ON share ownership on the career winner of $23,940.
Chelseas Chance was the other winner for the McIntosh and Condren. The Kadabra-Armbro Chelsea miss, who boasted a 2-1-0 record in her first three starts, got back to her winning ways with a 1:58.4 triumph over Supreme Monarch and Erin Hall. The clocking matched Chelseas Chance’s lifetime mark.
Sent off as the 4-5 choice, Chelseas Chance lifted her lifetime loot total to $31,500 for the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc of Windsor, ON, the C S X Stables of Liberty Center, OH and Michael Kohler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
Jamandra completed the stakes hat-trick for trotting sire Kadabra thanks to her 2:00.2 tally for driver Trevor Ritchie and trainer Rob Fellows. Sent off as the 8-5 favourite, the filly marched down the road through panels of :29.1, 1:01.1 and 1:31 before scooting home in :29.2 to secure the one-length decision. Indira Blue Chip was next best, with Oaklea Wand taking home third prize.
Out of the Garland Lobell mare, Sahalee, Jamandra won for the second time in her career while boosting her earnings to $18,660. The filly, who is a homebred, races for Michael Pozefsky of Saratoga Springs, NY and Edward Wilson of Seagrave, ON.
Danica, a daughter of Deweycheatumnhowe-Ferrari OF, turned a two-hole trip into a driving away victory in 2:00 for trainer/driver Dustin Jones. The filly was much the best over Please Okay and White Become Here.
It was a maiden-breaking triumph for the Dustin Jones pupil who was sent off at odds of 8-5. The homebred has put away $8,940 to date for owner/breeder Diamond Creek Racing of Wellsville, PA.
Serendipitious prevailed in her pari-mutuel debut for the father/son combination of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Carl Jamieson and driver Jody Jamieson. The Carl Jamieson trainee rallied from just off the lead and won by 4-1/2 lengths over Jayport Princess in 1:58.4. Oceana was third.
The daughter of Majestic Son-Royal B G, who was a $6,000 purchase from last year’s Canadian Yearling Sale, is owned by Carl Jamieson of Rockwood and Tom Kyron of Toronto, ON.
My Kind Of Pretty went 0-for-3 to start her career, but her fourth kick at the can provided her with her first lifetime win. The daughter of Muscle Troy-Toy used come-from-behind tactics in a slowing tempo en route to notching the 2:00.2 decision by a head over Wings Of Ballykeel. Just Call Me Lady rounded out the Triactor ticket.
Eddie Green of Ohsweken, ON owns, trains and drove the filly to the victory. The $10,000 purchase from last year’s Canadian Yearling Sale has already earned $12,900.
