Henry Dominates At Clinton
Canada's leading driver Trevor Henry dominated another day of racing at Clinton Raceway winning five of the 12 dashes by a combined margin of 22 and three-quarter lengths.
The Arthur, Ont. reinsman earned his first win of the card in the second race with Live For Today ($3.60) for trainer and co-owner Darcy McClure. He later returned to the winner's circle after guiding the Larry Johnson-trained Unchained Desire ($5.50) to victory lane in the sixth.
Henry's most dominant wins came in races eight and nine as Come On Man ($3.40) posted a five and a half length tally for trainer George McClure and Monster In Law ($3.40) ran away from his rivals to win by 10-1/2 for trainer and co-owner Don Beatson.
Trotting mare Wine Queen ($4.60), conditioned by for trainer Paul Belanger Jr., closed out the card and gave Henry his fifth victory.
Henry leads the nation and Clinton drivers for wins this year with 279 (25 local tallies) over Billy Davis Jr., who pushed his own seasonal total to 266 (20 locally) with a pair of wins on the card.
While Henry won the most races, driver Stuart Sowerby topped his combined winning margin in just one race with two-year-old Art Major filly Rain Cloud Hanover widening her lead to 23 lengths in the third dash. The David Taff trainee is three-for-three after the 1:57.3 effort.
