Michaels Power Wins Another Preferred
Canada's reigning Horse of the Year, Michaels Power, returned to Mohawk Racetrack three weeks after earning his first win of the season to capture another $34,000 Preferred Pace during the Saturday evening program of harness racing.
With Chris Christoforou catch-driving for trainer Casie Coleman, the popular four-year-old gelding left from post four and made every call a winning one. Michaels Power carved out fractions of :26.4, :55.1 and 1:22.3 en route to a 1:50.1 triumph. Aracache Hanover (Doug McNair) advanced first over to finish second in a photo over a locked in pocket-sitting Up The Credit (Billy Davis Jr.).
Michaels Power paid $5.40 to win as the 8-5 fan favourite.
New York's Jeffrey Snyder owns and bred the son of Camluck, who is two-for-four on the year. Lifetime, Michaels Power boasts 18 wins in 27 starts with earnings amounting to $1,526,765.
The victory completed a perfect day of racing for Coleman as she also won the $250,000 New Jersey Classic at Meadowlands Racetrack with Lucan Hanover, moving within five wins of the 2,000 career milestone.
