Red Shores Feature To Artners In Crime
Artners In Crime enjoyed a masterful Ron Matheson steer to win the Thursday night feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at The Charlottetown Driving Park.
Matheson left out to make front in the $1,750 event and carved out fractions of :28, :58.2, and 1:28.1 with Artners In Crime before notching a three-quarter length advantage over Windemere Nancy (Mike McGuigan) in 1:58.1. Camcun (Jason Hughes) rounded out the triactor. Minor shares went to Astronomical Union and Panacotta.
Artners In Crime, paying $25.20 to win, is owned by Bobbi Jo Gaudet of Charlottetown, PEI and trained by Jack Matheson. It was the second driving win of the night for Ron and the second training winner for Jack.
The evening trot class was won by Zip The Lip in 2:00.3 for driver Brian MacPhee, trainer Don Sweet and owner The Estate of Melvin Willis. Saulsbrook Balance (Willie Murphy) was second, with Scarlet Patti (Darryl MacLean) third.
The $1,550 back-up pace was won by Cabo Pan Lucas (Vincent Poulton) in 1:57.2 as he scored an upset over First Art Down (Walter Cheverie), with Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson) third.
Fastest winners on the night were Rymar Sporty (Ken Murphy) in a blistering 1:55.3, and Miracle Matts (Blois MacPhail) in 1:56.
Trainer Tom Weatherbie also scored a training double with Regal One (John Holmes) in 2:01.3 and So Much To Say (Lenny Myers) in 1:59.4.
