Dirt Track Momma Matches Truro Mark
Dirt Track Momma powered her way into the record books at Truro Raceway during Sunday afternoon’s 12-race card thanks to her 1:55 score in the first of two divisions of the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series.
With Darren Crowe at the controls, Dirt Track Momma hustled right to the lead from Post 2 and after laying down fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.4 she used a :29.1 closing quarter to win in 1:55. It was 8-1/2 lengths back to runner-up Bunny Mach, with J K Special rounding out the top three finishers. The 1:55 clocking matched Abby Best’s track standard for older pacing mares.
Jonah Moase of Cornwall, PEI owns and trains the five-year-old daughter of E Dees Cam-Gushing Grace. Sent off as the 3-5 favourite in the seven-mare affair, Dirt Track Momma extended her winning streak to three-in-a-row while bumping her overall bankroll to $64,979.
Lucky Boot Cam was a 6-1 upsetter in her $3,190 division. The four-year-old Camluck-Eagle Boots miss was treated to a ground-saving trip for most of the mile, but she popped out late and fired home in :29.1 to secure the one-length triumph over General Luckypercy in 1:58.2. Mylittlerebel grabbed the show dough.
Trained and driven by Jason Hughes, Lucky Boot Cam won for the second time this season for partners Donald Mac Rae and Steven Mac Rae of Vernon Bridge, PEI. The pacer is quickly closing in on $50,000 in lifetime earnings.
