Block Party Making Noise
The red-hot Block Party will look to extend her winning streak to four in the Thursday night feature at Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Western Terror mare was a winner in 1:55 on July 6 at the CDP, and then followed that up with a pair of 1:56.4 victories during Lobster Carnival Week racing at Summerside Raceway last week.
Block Party will be searching for win No. 4 in Race 12, the $1,950 feature, with PEI’s leading driver, Marc Campbell, in the bike for trainer Darren Trainor and owners Bill, Brian and Blake Andrew.
Block Party has drawn Post 4 for the event. The field also includes Camcun (to be driven by Kenny Arsenault), Artners In Crime (Brodie MacPhee), Matt Trapper (Brian Andrew), Windemere Nancy (Jason Hughes), Oakrock Almighty (Ron Matheson), Leaveitwithme (Darrell Neill), and Pownal Bay Mustang (Gilles Barrieau).
First-race post time for the 12-dash card will be 7:00 p.m.
A field of eight trotters will line up in Race 3 and will battle for a purse of $1,100. Saulsbrook Balance is the morning-line favourite from Post 7 for driver Willie Murphy and trainer/co-owner Cindy MacDonald, who owns along with Tanya MacKinnon. The perennial top Island trotter dropped out of the Open Trot three starts ago, but still remains winless in 2013. Other top entries include JK Queen (Walter Cheverie) and BJ Eldorado (Arsenault).
The evening back-up class will head postward for Race 7. Panacotta is favoured in the $1,550 event for driver Barrieau, trainer Blaine Baglole and owner Shane Baglole. Other likely favourites include Hilo (Arsenault) and Ultimate Faith (Campbell).
Live racing continues Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the CDP and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Summerside.
