MacDaddy To Yonkers Trot
One of the likely front-runners to capture this Saturday's Canadian Breeders Championship for three-year-old trotting colts is skipping that race in hopes of a larger payday state-side.
The fields for Saturday's Yonkers Trot eliminations came out early Tuesday evening and featured in the first elim is Creampuff Macdaddy. The son of Ken Warkentin, trained by Brad Maxwell and owned by Howard Taylor of Philadelphia, Pa., Ted Gewertz of , New York, N.Y., Edwin Gold of Phoenixville, Pa. and Judith Taylor of Bala Cynwyd, Pa, finished a hard-fought third in his CBC elim on Friday and drew Post 3 in Saturday's $105,910 final - set for the same night at the Yonkers Trot elim.
Fifteen three-year-olds -- 11 horses and four geldings -- including Creampuff MacDaddy were entered Tuesday for Yonkers Trot, edition 59.
Yonkers Raceway's premier trotting event offers a total purse of $530,000, beginning with a pair of $40,000 eliminations. The first four finishers in each elim return for the $450,000 final, set for Saturday night, July 27.
