Ramblinglily Leads ATSS Winners
Maritime Breeders champion Ramblinglily stole the spotlight on Friday night in the Atlantic Sires Stakes at Summerside Raceway with her 1:58 victory in the fastest division of the night.
Friday's card featured three $9,140 "A" divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies with Ask Dont Tell and Whistys Paradise also scoring sires stakes victories.
Ramblinglily overcame a post seven start early on as driver Brodie MacPhee sent her to the lead during the first quarter and rebuffed a first over challenge from Skip The Exam en route to her third win in a row. She used a :27.4 final frame to hold off Scootin For Joy, who finished three-quarters of a length behind off a pocket trip while Howmacs Angel rounded out the top three finishers nearly four lengths behind.
The Articulator filly, who watched her seasonal bankroll climb to more than $20,000, is owned and bred by trainer Allan Jones of Riverview, P.E.I. and Normand Leger of Shediac, N.B.
Ask Dont Tell and trainer/driver Jason Hughes waited patiently in the pocket before coming on to win the second "A" division in 1:58.4 by one and three-quarter lengths over the persistent pacesetter Carls Glory. Top Brand finished third. The N Xample filly is owned by Paul Turbide and Martin Arseneau of Havre-Aux-Maisons, Que.
After getting away third, Whistys Paradise journeyed first over to win her division in 1:58.3 for the driver/trainer team of Ernest and Blair Laffin. Howmacs Princess finished over one length back in second after following the winner's cover while Misssassy Attitude was third. Christopher Laffin of Mill Village, N.S. owns the daughter of Western Paradise.
Brandons Cowboy fillies dominated the $2,500 "B" divisions with Lyndale Annie (2:00.2), Life Of A Cowgirl (2:00.4) and the maiden-breaking Beaus Cowgirl (2:00.3) all winning their respective assignments. The other "B" split went to a daughter of Western Paradise, Lady Antebella (2:00.1).
