Freshman Fillies Perfect In ATSS
Lobster Carnival Week's Atlantic Sires Stakes action continued on Wednesday evening at Summerside Raceway with two-year-old pacing fillies Elm Grove Inarush, Pictonian Sareta and Lovineveryminute all boasting stakes doubles to start their promising careers.
The winners of all $9,180 "A" divisions were following up victorious career debuts in the Callbeck Stakes on July 1 at Summerside.
Elm Grove Inarush overcame an early miscue and went on to win the first division by four lengths in 2:00.2 with Mark Bradley in the bike. The Coastocoast Yankee-Seawind Alpha filly, who defeated Dusty Lane Dora and South Cove Pearl, is owned by trainer Eddy Doucette, Blaine Thibeau, Gordon MacLeod, and Grant Mann -- all of Kensington, P.E.I.
Pictonian Sareta was a wire-to-wire winner in 2:03 with Emily Annabel Mac and Saulsbrook Alana following two lengths behind in second and third. Mike Stevenson drove the Western Paradise-Southview Selena miss, who is trained by Wade Sorrie and owned by Daniel Ross of Belfast, P.E.I.
The final and fastest "A" division was won by the Gilles Barrieau-driven Lovineveryminute, who took over the lead past the half-mile mark and cruised home in 2:00.1 for the four length victory. Earl Watts trains the homebred Western Paradise-Deliver Me filly for River Valley Management of Quispamsis, N.B. Absolootly Hot and Acton Royal Force finished second and third.
Kenny Arsenault won the $2,500 "B" divisions with a pair of maiden-breaking fillies, Briannas Angel (2:02.2) for Travis Wilkie and his own trainee Charlottes Style (2:03.1).
