New Twist For CBC's 'Plate' Coverage
The CBC has announced that if you click onto its website this weekend to view the 154th running of the Queen's Plate, you may just see horse racing presented in a way you haven't seen before.
In addition to live-streaming coverage of the Queen’s Plate, cbcsports.ca has a second interactive video player that will give fans additional viewpoints from the racetrack leading up to and during the race.
Prior to the start, the interactive camera will show shots of the live-odds board, as well as different angles around the racetrack which will offer fans a unique perspective on the pre-race atmosphere.
Once the horses head to the gates, the interactive camera will split into four sections. The sections will feature an isolated shot of the pre-race favourite, an isolated shot of the second-favourite, a wide shot of the race, and a rail camera, all in a single live video player.
The 154th edition of the Queen's Plate will take place this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT) from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
The Queen’s Plate is the longest continually-run stakes race in North America and is the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing.
