Whether he’s been asked to race on the lead or from off the pace, Pacific Oak has had little problem disposing of the Preferred foes he has faced in recent weeks at Western Fair Raceway.

The six-year-old son of Pacific Rocket extended his win streak to three-in-a-row thanks to an impressive 1:55.3 score in Monday’s co-featured $18,400 Preferred Pace.

Pacific Oak, who was sent off as the 6-5 choice in the seven-horse affair, followed cover from second over as the field moved into the backstretch for the final time and simply roared away from his rivals when called on for top speed by trainer/driver Kenny Oliver. Oakley Seelster was second and Activator finished third.

Shirley and Kerry House of St. Jacobs, ON own the photogenic gelding, who won for the 20th time in his career. The lion’s share of the purse helped his overall bankroll climb to $181,681.

Trottin Troy found his way to victory lane in Monday’s co-featured $18,400 Preferred Trot for the team of driver Dave Wall and trainer Steve Bossence.

The five-year-old son of Chip Chip Hooray used an off-the-pace approach to find the winner’s circle for the 12th time in his career for the Ohio partnership of Parent Racing Stable LLC and Crystal Ball Stables.

The gelding, who now boasts $190,233 in lifetime earnings, stopped the clock in 2:00.1. Wild Magic took home the runner-up award despite making a late miscue. Stonebridge Diablo rounded out the top three.

A Fiesty Affair extended her win streak to three-in-a-row for owner/breeder Robert Hamather of Exeter, ON in the $15,200 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace.

The Casie Coleman-trained four-year-old daughter of Camluck rolled the field through splits of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:26.2 before finishing off the winning effort with a :29.3 final frame. Brad Forward engineered the 1:56 decision with the mare.

Lady Mach, who enjoyed a pocket trip behind the 4-5 favourite, was a length back in second while Speed Mcqueen finished another three lengths back in third.

Along Came Polly became the third Preferred winner on the card to notch a hat trick thanks to his 1:57 triumph in the $12,800 Preferred 2 Pace for driver Mike Langdon.

The five-year-old son of Camluck parked past a :28-second opener before scooting to the front and chopping out middle splits of :58.2 and 1:27.4 en route to the 1:57 decision. Button Up was second best and D K Thunder grabbed the show dough.

Dave Shea and David Lumsden share ownership on the 16-time winner, who is undefeated in his first three starts since being transferred to the stable of trainer Phil Coleman.
