'Falina' Fastest 2YOTF At Buffalo
Flyhawk Falina, a two-year-old filly by Cash Hall out of the El Paso Kash mare Nowerland Nanette, won her $37,862 division of the New York Sire Stakes in 2:03 at Buffalo Raceway Wednesday night (July 3).
It was the first lifetime start for Flyhawk Falina, who was a $9,500 Morrisville purchase last year, and is owned by Ann-Marie Daley of Lake Worth, Florida.
Dismissed by the bettors at 20-1 Flyhawk Falina ($42.60), who is trained and driven by Dan Daley, left alertly from Post 6, and cut all the fractions (:31.3, 1:02.4, 1:34). A 29-second final quarter-mile put the winner three and three-quarter lengths ahead of second-place finisher Lady And The Cash (driven by Jeff Gregory) at the finish line. Baby Shaq (Ray Schnittker) came in third.
Also receiving a sire stakes blanket was Incredulous (Credit Winner-Trepezius) who was capably driven by Jeff Gregory for owners Stake Your Claim Stables, Fred Wallace and Daniel Baer. The Linda Toscano-trained trotter stopped the timer in 2:04.1. It was the first lifetime start for Incredulous ($8.00).
The other sire stakes winner was Interplanet Terri (Big Apple Deli-Lanai Blue Chip) in 2:04.4 with driver Jim Morrill Jr. in the bike.
Drivers Jim Morrill Jr., John Cummings Jr. and Ron Beback Jr. each won two wins apiece on the card.
Live racing at Buffalo will resume on Friday, July 5, with first post scheduled for 6:40 p.m. (ET).
