Keith Pippi’s Traverse Seelster ($10.40, Ross Wolfenden) broke the all-aged track record for trotters Wednesday at Harrington Raceway with a 1:54.1 triumph in the featured $19,000 Open.

The Gary Green trainee set all the fractions and took advantage of an early break in stride by heavily favoured Modern Family to prevail by open lengths over Mandabra and Cash On Delivery. The previous all-aged track mark was held by mare Allmar Surprise (1:54.2).

The win was the fourth of the year for Traverse Seelster, an Ontario-bred and sired son of Angus Hall, and one of three wins for Ross Wolfenden, who joined Allan Davis and George Dennis in achieving driving triples.

Live racing resumes July 25 at Harrington for the annual Governor’s Night program (special 7 p.m. post time), before a Monday through Thursday schedule commences on August 12.
