Tim Tetrick, harness racing’s leading money-winning driver in 2008, reports his recovery from hip replacement surgery is going well enough that he is now eyeing January 22 as his return date to driving at the Meadowlands.

Tetrick, who had his right hip replaced December 8, plans to drive in qualifying races that morning. The 27-year-old reinsman has suffered from a degenerative hip condition since childhood. He will undergo the same surgery on his left hip next December at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

“I am about 75 percent right now,” Tetrick said Sunday afternoon. “I’m feeling good. I’ve been working in the barn and training horses.”

Tetrick concluded the 2008 season with $19.8 million in purses won, breaking his own single season earnings record of $18.4 million established in 2007.

No Sunday Racing January 11

Due to the New York Giants’ playoff game at home, live racing and simulcasting on Sunday, January 11 has been canceled at the Meadowlands.

If the Giants prevail, the racetrack will also be closed January 18.
