Red Shores' Weekend Preview
Officials with Red Shores have sent out a pair of preview stories for the programs of live racing this weekend at the Charlottetown Driving Park and Summerside Raceway.
Pang Shui Headlines Fast Class Saturday
Pang Shui is one of the star attractions in the featured event Saturday at Charlottetown Driving Park. First-race post time for the 12-dash card is 6:00 p.m.
Pang Shui has been the talk of the town after his blistering qualifier in 1:56 over Summerside for driver Jason Hughes. That performance has been reported as the fastest qualifier in Summerside history. The lifetime winner of $534,549 is now trained by Blaine McKenna for his co-owners William, Brian and Blake Andrew and Gary Arsenault since arriving on PEI following stints throughout the U.S.
The son of No Pan Intended has earned 5-2 odds on the morning line and will take on another speed horse named Lucky Encounter who finished second to Pan Shui in the same qualifier.
The line-up, from the rail out, has Lucky Encounter (PP1), Pang Shui (PP2), All Turain (PP3), McApulco (PP4), Pembroke Fella (PP5), R Sonoflife (PP6), Outlawpositivcharg (PP7) and Touch of Lightning (PP8).
In other news, Caliban Hanover will look for his for third straight victory in the open trot (Race 5) for Ron Gass and owner Wendell MacDonald. The second annual Drive for Charity kicks Saturday. The top 12 Island drivers will team up with businesses to raise money for local charities.

Ruby Chappell and Bob Dewar Stakes at Summerside
The stars will be out in full force Sunday at Summerside when the region’s three-year-old fillies strut their stuff in five divisions of the Ruby Chappell Stakes. Three-year-old colts will head behind the gate for five splits of the Bob Dewar Stakes. The card carries $57,650 in purse money.
Misssassy Attitude gets the nod in the first Chappell stakes division for Kenny Arsenault, while Largomotion, Top Brand, Carls Glory and Carol Alice are leading contenders in their respective divisions.
The Glamour boys will get introduced in the Bob Dewar Memorial (Race 4), with The Rev, who is coming off a big 2012 season, expected to get the respect of the field from Post 3. Danny Romo will be in the bike for another action-packed stakes season in the Maritimes.
Put to the Test comes to town in the second division of the Dewar in Race 6. From 12 starts last season, the colt recorded eight top-three finishes, which included four wins.
The second annual Drive for Charity moves to Summerside on Sunday.
