Ryan And Ont. Invader To Running Aces
Running Aces Harness Park in Minnesota has announced that Ontario native Jason Ryan will look to make an impact during the track's meet-opening card on Saturday, June 1.
The festive evening will be the first of 53 live programs presented every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the months of June, July and August. This will be the sixth season of racing at Minnesota's only commercial harness track.
Featured on the nine-race card is a $7,000 Minnesota-sired event for three-year-old pacing fillies. All On My Own, a daughter of Dags owned by Larry Jenson, has been installed the morning line favourite off a freshman season in 2012 in which she earned $11,971. Brandon Jenson trains and drives the promising filly who won her 2013 qualifier in a snappy 2:02.3 including a last half in a minute.
The eighth race is a $5,000 event for condition mares with Passion R Virginie getting the slight morning line nod over Twentyone Guns and Chocollicious. The favourite has just one win in 19 seasonal starts, but it was a quick 1:55.4 decision at Kawartha Downs. Trainer-driver Jason Ryan, who has brought a nine-horse stable to Minnesota for the first time, will be in her sulky.
In addition to featuring Ryan --- a promising 24-year-old reinsman with 221 lifetime wins who sported a .304 UDR in 2012 --- the program also marks the Running Aces debut of driver Luke Plano, whose impressive .430 UDR is currently ranked first in the entire nation among drivers with over 500 starts.
Plano, the leading driver in California over the past two years, has 2,399 career victories and has steered his mounts to over $8.5 million in purse earnings to date.
