'Outlaw' Draws Rail In Feature

Blue Star Outlaw had the luck of the draw on Wednesday when he landed on the pylons for the $2,300 featured event Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time is 6:00 p.m.

Jason Hughes will drive the son of Shady Character-Ranch Dressing off the rail for owner Donnie MacRae of Vernon Bridge. The lifetime winner of $68,936 can bust the gate and starts beside Every Day with Brian Andrew. Speaking of gate speed, Touch of Lightning and Carnivore, who drew Post 5 and Post 6, respectively, can also leave hard. Big League, who beat this class last week for Walter Cheverie, will need to maneuver from Post 8 for driver Kenny Arsenault. Arsenault is very familiar with this guy as he drove him in 2012 and qualified him back in April for owner Jonah Moase and trainer Steve Wotton.

The race will also see the return of All Turain, Balanchine and Roscoes Child. All Turain, the 2012 winner of the Island Pacing Series and Gold Cup trial contender, owned by Lee Hicken of Charlottetown and trainer Trevor Hicken of Montague, makes his season debut for Marc Campbell, while Balanchine and driver Brodie MacPhee go behind the gate for the first time in 2013 after an impressive resume in 2012 which included nine wins and $51,878 in the bank for trainer Jackie Matheson. Matheson will also send out Oakrock Almighty from Post 9 for Ron Matheson. Roscoes Child, owned by the Selkirk Stable of Belfast, is always a fan favourite and shows miles charted in 1:56.2 last year for trainer Raymond White. White secured the services of Walter Cheverie for this event.

Steven Shepherd will make his driving debut on the card with four drives, including Mullet Man in Race 3 and trotter Dunmore Alpha in Race 4. BJ Eldorado gets the nod as the morning line favourite for trainer Bert Honkoop.

Brief Bliss is back in action in Race 9. The five-year-old pacer steps up the class ladder after his impressive 1:58.4 win last week for trainer-driver Stephen Quinn. Lyndale Royal, Barrett Jackson and You Gotta See This are also listed as triactor candidates.
