Six For Plante; Another Spill
Horses scattered in every direction in Tuesday's fourth race at The Western Fair District when pacing filly Lookers Destiny made a wild break in the first turn, which in turn caused confusion and interference to the remainder of the field. A number of horses were checked up by their drivers and managed to maneuver around the breaker, but Jetta Dawn and One Hot Shot weren't among the lucky ones.
Jetta Dawn, who got away sixth for Brad Forward, got rough gaited when all the commtotion took place in front of her. She stumbled and fell right into the path of One Hot Shot and driver Scott Coulter. Both Forward and Coulter were dumped from their racebikes.
Coulter bounced back up and drove for the remainder of the card, while Forward drove in the next two races before booking off the remainder of his drives as a result of sore ribs he suffered in the spill. Both horses - Jetta Dawn and One Hot Shot - came away from the incident with no serious injuries from the spill which was the second in as many days at the London oval.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Brad Forward a speedy recovery.
You can also join us in congratulating J.R. Plante on the six-win performance he manufactured during Tuesday's 12-race card.
Plante kicked off the card with a natural hat trick. He clicked with C C Bad Girl (1:58.1), Review The Glide (1:59.4) and Dapple Apple (1:58). He was back to victory lane in Race 6 thanks to St Lads Pixie's gate-to-wire triumph in 1:58.2. He clicked with Majestic Max (2:01.1) in Race 8 and capped off his productive day at the office with a going-away tally in Race 12 with TSM Starlit Cruise (1:57.1).
