At the age of 36, Watch Him Terry's racing days are long gone, but the "sensible" standardbred is still making headlines.

According to an article on peicanada.com, Watch Him Terry is believed to be one of the oldest horses still living in Prince Edward Island.

“I have only known of one other horse that lived till it was 40 years old," owner George Lynch was quoted as saying in the article. "Growing up with horses they usually only lived for 31 or 32 years.”

Watch Him Terry was sired by Command out of Donna Holmes and accumulated a racing record of 16-28-40 in 196 starts while earning just under $5,000 in purses. He raced at Charlottetown, Summerside, Tyne Valley and Alberton and took his mark of 2:08.3 as a six-year-old at Summerside.

“He was a good race horse back then...he had lots of wins,” said Lynch. “But back then there wasn’t a lot of money in racing.”

According to the article, Watch Him Terry retired from racing at the age of 12 after suffering a broken ankle.

The quiet and gentle pacer is currently living at the Inverness farm where he was born on May 16, 1977.
