Moreau Troops Triple At WEG
Canada's leading conditioner Richard Moreau added to his 2013 chart-topping win count on Friday night with his trainees taking three of the evening's 12 races at Woodbine Racetrack, beginning with an impressive performance from Farmers Tuition.
Driven by Sylvain Filion in a $16,000 conditioned pace for fillies and mares, Farmers Tuition ($6.10) sat mid-pack in a full field of 10 before kicking off cover and unleashing a :26.2 final frame to post a dazzling 1:51 free-legged victory. St Lads Peeper and Seascape Hanover finished second and third. The seven-year-old daughter of Apaches Fame, now two-for-two since joining Moreau's stable in April, is owned by Gerrie Tucker of Montreal, Que. and Debbie Bird of Harwood, Ont.
Moreau and Filion also swept the late Daily Double with five-year-old pacing mare Roca Rei ($4.70) and eight-year-old pacer Lost In Panslation ($4.10) both scoring from post eight.
Moreau leads all trainers in Canada with 114 wins and over $1 million in purse earnings so far this year.
Filion also drove one of two winners on the card for Canada's second leading trainer, Rene Allard.
