Meadows Series Sweep For Terror High
It took a determined stretch drive to do it, but Terror High completed his sweep of the Schoolkids Pace for three-year-old colts and geldings when he captured Tuesday’s $33,250 championship at The Meadows.
Hammered down to 1-5, Terror High quarter-poled to the front for Brett Miller and discouraged any effective outside flow. Lurking on his bumper, though, was the fresh Dew N Doughnuts, who brushed through the Lightning Lane to draw even. Terror High found more and held off the challenger a half-length margin in 1:52, with Jins Dragon a rallying third.
“Dew N Doughnuts raced super,” Brett Miller said, “and our little colt has been on the front four weeks in a row. I think he’s getting tired of doing all the work. He held tough, he raced great, but it’s time for him to get a trip. He’ll need a trip when he’s in with the real good colts. I think he’ll hold his own.”
A Western Terror-Summer Artist gelding who didn’t race at two, Terror High has won six of 11 starts for owners Chris Ryder, Max Wernick, Tamra Wernick and Robert Mondillo. Del S. Miller, who trains the horse locally, said Terror High would return to Ryder’s New Jersey base.
In the $18,000 Preferred Trot, Hava Kadabra broke an uncharacteristic four-race losing streak by notching a front-end victory in 1:53.4 for Dave Palone and trainer Ron Burke. TSM Photo Bugger was a half-length length back in second, while Austins Jon Jon closed well for show.
The 6-year-old Kadabra-Armbro Vixen gelding, who is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Yannick Gingras, now boasts $441,760 in career earnings.
Wednesday’s program at The Meadows features the $31,250 championship of the Trotslikethewind Trot for sophomore fillies. First post is 6:55 p.m.
