Veitch Recommended To Be Reinstated
According to a report, a state Personnel Cabinet hearing officer has recommended that former horseman and Kentucky racing steward John Veitch should be rehired with back pay.
An article by The Courier-Journal explains that hearing officer Roland Merkel determined last week that Veitch's firing should have come from the executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, which it did not.
The report explains that Merkel's recommendation can be appealed and that the KHRC is looking to get the decision reversed.
Veitch was fired from the KHRC in November of 2011 over the Life At Ten incident at the 2010 Breeders' Cup.
