Dexter Cup Straight To Final
Harold Dancer Trot winner King Muscles was among the seven horses entered to contest the eliminations for the Dexter Cup at Freehold Raceway.
With only seven horses entered, eliminations will not be needed, and thus all seven will advance to the $139,400 final of the Dexter Cup, which will take place on Saturday, May 4.
The Dexter Cup kicks off the stakes season for three-year-old trotters that are heading down the road to the $1 million Hambletonian, which is to be raced on August 3 at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
King Muscles, a New Jersey-sired son of Muscles Yankee, will be joined in the final by Celebrity Maserati, Celebrity Stimulus, Dewey Luvs Britt, Dontforgetit, Il Pizzaiolo and Stirling Bullet.
King Muscles, trained by Aaron Lambert for J&T Silva Stables LLC of Long Beach, NY, took his lifetime mark of 1:59.1 on April 19, 2013 at Freehold. He now has two wins, three seconds and two thirds from 10 career starts and earnings of $77,230.
The $22,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase was a length and a quarter winner of the $36,500 Harold Dancer on September 20, 2012, a few weeks after he finished second to Corky in the $150,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final at the Meadowlands.
