It has been reported that Paris Mutuel Urbain, the entity which handles wagering on horse racing in France, is on pace to record its 16th consecutive year of growth in terms of wagering.

The article, which appears on calvinayre.com, states that the PMU is forecasting a 0.8 per cent growth in overall activity totalling €2.678 billion, and that the sports betting arm of PMU saw an increase of 33 per cent in the first quarter

The article also touches on the idea that the government's apparent limitations on many other gambling options in the country could be the reason why the wagering on French horse racing is as strong as it is.

The report also states that the organization's 'PMU 2020' gaming strategy is looking to lead to €1 billion in net income by 2020, and that the strategy includes pushing the organization's interests in international markets and social and digital platforms.
