The five-year-old son of Jennas Beach Boy got away first and stayed there, cutting the mile with fractions of :27.2, :55 and 1:21.4. Jeremes Jet ($4.20, $3.60) stalked Gold Dust Beach all the way but couldn't catch him in the stretch and finished second. Lis Mara made an unsuccessful bid for the front earlier in the card but tired, and Mypanmar ($4.40) got up for third
with Palone Ranger fourth.
"I tried to get a little ground there," said Miller after the race. "He has a tendency to get caught a lot but he raced good. We got a pretty easy first quarter and a reasonable half. He's been racing good, just sometimes the lane gets a little long for him there, but he's a pretty good horse."
Gold Dust Beach, who is trained by Joe Holloway for L&L Devisser LLC of Holland, MI, now has five wins in 24 starts this year, and his 1:49.3 clocking is a new season's record as the fastest mile this year on a half-mile track.
