WFD Preferred To Classy Lane Rose
Jason Brewer treated Classy Lane Rose to a second-over trip in Tuesday’s featured $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred at The Raceway at The Western Fair District, and the OSS graduate didn’t let it go to waste.
The four-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Titanic Rose flipped off the helmet she was tracking and sprinted home to win the main event of the card in a time of 1:56.2 over a track listed ‘good’ with a one-second allowance due to wet conditions.
Classy Lane Rose got away fourth from her second-tier starting spot and that left the early lead to Bullet Point. That front-stepper led the field through panels of :28, :57.2 and 1:26.1. Thatll Be Franny was first over in the final half of the contest with Classy Lane Rose tracking her cover. Thatll Be Franny took over the lead turning for home, but Classy Lane Rose used a :29.3 closing panel to secure the two-length decision over Mc Taylor in 1:56.2. Shes A Maniac tagged along to finish third.
Ben Wallace trains and his Wallacestandardbreds Inc of Milton shares ownership on the homebred with Jamie Millier of Puslinch, ON. It was the ninth lifetime tally for the career winner of $213,705 who has constructed a 4-2-1 record from just nine starts this season.
Trevor Henry used front-stepping tactics to win the $8,400 Fillies & Mares Preferred-2 with Sweet Bet, who was making her first start for trainer Richard Moreau after being claimed for $18,750 from her previous outing.
The five-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Jenna Sweetie chopped out sensible fractions of :29, 1:00 and 1:28.3 before using a :30-second final frame to seal the deal by three-quarters of a length. Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, Sweet Bet defeated Machs Delicacy and Misty Moonstone.
Annalisa Klunowski of Toronto, ON owns the 15-time winner who is 3-for-16 so far in the 2013 campaign. The mare has stashed away over $32,000 in earnings this season and more than $123,000 to date.
