Bartlett Gets In Christmas Spirit
Most days and nights, it's wins. Sunday afternoon, however, it was coats.
Jason Bartlett, the soon-to-be Yonkers Raceway 2008 driving champion, lent a hand to Empire City's "Christmas Spirit" coat drive, held in conjunction with Catholic Charities.
Bartlett spent some of a rare off-day greeting guests who donated coats to those less fortunate during the holiday season. The coats are to be distributed to Catholic Charities-supported agencies. Empire City hosted a toy drive last Sunday.
"I was glad to help out," Bartlett said. "It's going to make a lot of people happier." The 27-year-old Bartlett currently ranks fourth in North America in 2008 wins (646) and 15th in purses ($6.58 million).
Those guests who donated coats received a free-play gaming voucher, worth $5, along with a Bartlett autographed photo, which, according to the signee, is priceless.
