DSBFs To Country Romance, Starlit Eyes
Country Romance and Starlit Eyes used opposite styles of racing to come through with victories in the $20,000 divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund for three-year-old trotting fillies Tuesday at Dover Downs.
Allan Davis sat second with Country Romance, owned and trainer by William Moffett, from the start behind Podium until the stretch before coming to the outside and finally getting by for a 2:00. Glitter Galore picked up third-place money.
The win for Country Romance, a daughter of Giant Hit-Give A Hoot, is her second straight this year and fifth lifetime. She’s banked $51,026 to date.
In the other DSBF event, Ross Wolfenden roared out of post one with Starlit Eyes and the tandem never looked back. The CR Commando-Call Me Hazel filly, trained by Steve LeBlanc and owned by Jeff Franklin, Winbak Farm and LeBlanc Racing, posted her first career victory in a time of 2:00.2. Luscious Leigh, winner of the two-year-old $100,000 DSBF Final, was second with. Embrace Peace finishing third.
The top eight point-getters after the two prelim legs return next Monday for the $100,000 DSBF Final.
