Mc Taylor Up In Time To Win Preferred
Trevor Henry needed every inch of the racetrack to take home top prize with Mc Taylor in Tuesday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred at The Raceway at The Western Fair District.
The six-year-old daughter of Camluck-Debutante Willvan tracked cover and then kicked into overdrive en route to posting the narrow victory. Bunny Mach shot to the early lead and supplied the field with an opening panel of :28.4. Bullet Point, who got away third, brushed to the top in the second quarter and she was the leader past the mid-way point in :58.2.
Bullet Point was still in charge at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.1, but Bunny Mach was driving first-over and Mc Taylor was gearing up three-wide after tracking Bunny Mach’s cover. A :30.1 closing panel was just enough for Mc Taylor to prevail by a head over Bullet Point in 1:57.3. A dead-game Bunny Mach was a lapped-on third in the eight-horse affair.
Mc Taylor, who was sent off as the 9-5 favourite, won for the fourth time this season and for the 21st time in her career. Richard Moreau trains the career winner of $259,245 for the Estate of Daniel J McCann of Parkhill, ON.
Shes A Maniac employed front-stepping tactics in the $8,400 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 and came away victorious for the tandem of driver Rob Sparling, Jr. and trainer Rheal Bourgeois.
The six-year-old Rocknroll Hanover-Check And Raise miss sped to the lead from the pole position and she never relinquished command through panels of :29, 1:00.2 and 1:29.3. Her :29.2 closing quarter earned her the neck decision over Jusluky Bobbi J in 1:59. J M Lasstax tagged along to finish third.
The Estate of Albert C Trudell of Mississauga, ON owns the 31-time winner, who improved this year’s record to 4-1-0 from 10 trips to the track. The lion’s share of the purse pushed her earnings over $200,000.
