Henry Wins Another Five At WFD
Western Fair Raceway's leading driver Trevor Henry continued to steal the show at the London, Ont. oval on Wednesday with a another multiple-win night.
After making headlines by sweeping Monday's featured Preferred events as part of a six-pack of wins and scoring three more times on Tuesday, Henry added five victories to his local leading total during the mid-week program.
Henry's big night pushed his win count to 67, giving him a 23-point lead on his nearest competitor, Nick Steward. His .381 win percentage so far in 2013 currently places him second on the Canadian charts behind the B.C.-based David McKellar.
Henry kicked off the 12-race card with a victory aboard the maiden-breaking Bob McIntosh trainee, Mr Opportunity ($3.20). A few races later in the fourth dash he steered Walked Into Heaven ($3.70) to an open length triumph for Dan Creighton and cruised to another wide-open score in the seventh race with the streaking General Manager ($3.40) for Paul Mairs. Miss Bexley ($6.70), conditioned by George McClure, gave him back-to-back wins and Richard Moreau trainee St Lads Dude ($3.10) took the 11th race to complete Henry's five-bagger.
Fresh off a personal-best season in which he led the nation with 533 winning drives, the Arthur, Ont. reinsman now has 4,665 victories on his career resume.
