‘Rose’ Repeats In WFD Preferred
What a difference a week makes. Classy Lane Rose’s win in last week’s Fillies & Mares Preferred at The Raceway at The Western Fair District produced a 12-1 windfall for her backers, while today’s follow-up score in top class for the distaffers saw her click at a fraction of the price.
Sent off as the 7-5 choice in the seven-horse affair, Classy Lane Rose shot to immediate command from the rail for Jason Brewer and they had the field chasing them to the quarter-pole in :28.1. Thatll Be Franny launched an attack in the second quarter and she brushed to the front and proceeded to lay down an opening half clocked in :58.4.
Thatll Be Franny was still in charge at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4, but Pathtodover was applying first-over pressure on the pacesetter. Classy Lane Rose angled to the outside when Pathtodover backed away, and the Ben Wallace pupil used a :29.3 closing panel to secure the win by a neck over Thatll Be Franny in 1:57.4. Cards That Count finished third.
The four-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Titanic Rose now boasts a 3-1-1 record from six trips to the track this season for owners Jamie Millier of Puslinch and Wallacestandardbreds Inc of Milton, ON. The homebred won for the eighth time in her career and pushed her lifetime earnings to $205,305 with the win.
