Fraser Feature To Just Fiction
After a narrow loss in the Fillies & Mares Open Handicap at Northlands Park on March 2, Just Fiction returned to Fraser Downs and eked out a 14-1 upset score in the $12,500 Fillies & Mares Open for driver Jim Marino.
Marino hustled the Ty O’Neill trainee to the lead from Post 7 and she had the field chasing her past the quarter-pole in a :28-second clip. Pocket-sitting Phone Terror (Serge Masse) leapfrogged past Just Fiction as the field moved in front of the grandstand and she proceeded to lead the way through middle intervals of :57 and 1:25.3.
Just Fiction used a :28.3 closing panel to sprint past race favourite Phone Terror in the closing strides en route to posting a half-length tally over that foe in 1:54.2. Jans Rich Girl tagged along to finish third in the seven-horse affair.
J J J Stables of Aldergrove, BC bred and own the 25-time winner who is closing in on $260,000 in lifetime earnings. She’s already put together a 3-0-2 record in seven starts this season.
