Andre Drolet Passes
Andre Drolet, one of Quebec racing’s behind-the-scenes builders, has died at age 71, after a lengthy illness.
A former director at Standardbred Canada, Drolet spent 15 years as head of the Circuit regional des Courses de Chevaux, which oversaw fair racing in the province. He later helped the Quebec Jockey Club revive harness racing in the province in 2009.
“He was a (provincial) civil servant and he knew his way around government, which was invaluable,” said Rick Karper, vice-president of the provincial horsemen’s association.
Drolet also owned and trained horses. Funeral details are still undetermined.
