Cullen Mares Collect Three Alberta Wins
Trainer-driver Travis Cullen led Saturday's harness racing card at Northlands Park as he guided three of his own trainees to victory lane.
The 20-year-old horseman scored his Saturday wins with his own mares Gottobesexy and Classy Locomotion, along with Overnight Success, owned by Dwayne Taylor of Minto, MB.
Cullen was named Driver of the Year for Under 200 Starts by the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) and Manitoba's Top Driver for Over 40 Starts (URS) last year.
He currently ranks among the top five drivers and trainers in 2013 at the Edmonton oval.
Another 2012 ASHA winner was in the spotlight on Saturday. Big Bang Theory, who took home the Claimer Under $10,000 title at the annual awards, won the $9,000 feature pace for Open mares and $10,000 to $15,000 claimers. Trainer, driver and co-owner Gerry Hudon guided the As Promised mare to a 1:56.3 neck victory over Feelin Flush (Cullen) and Just Fiction (Kelly Hoerdt).
