Monochromatic Romps In Dover Feature
Monochromatic won the $23,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace for the fifth time this season and stamps herself as one of the leaders for the Horse of the Meet award at season’s end at Dover Downs.
With Corey Callahan at the lines, the mare front-stepped to a 1:51.3 in the Monday feature, and she did so as the 4-5 favourite.
The Dylan Davis-traine Monochromatic shot to command from Post 6 and led the field through fractions of :26.2, :55.4 and 1:23.2 before using a :28.1 closing panel to seal the deal. It was 1-1/4 lengths back to runner-up Shine N Shimmer, with Southwind Jazmin grabbing third prize after doing the first-over work in the six-horse affair.
The eight-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Miss Ty has manufactured a 4-1-0 record from seven trips to the track this season for the North State Street Stable of Dover, DE. The 37-time winner has racked up career earnings totaling $604,770.
