Team Glassmeyer Wins Three In A Row
Fancyfreeshark, one of three consecutive wins for owner-trainer Bobby Glassmeyer and driver Jon Roberts, zoomed past Jeremys Successor in the stretch to win the $11,000 Male pace on the Sunday afternoon card at Dover Downs.
The feature was a two-horse race from start to finish. Fancyfreeshark took the early lead for Roberts. Jeremys Successor sped up with Shaun Bier to take over heading to the clubhouse turn. They paced that way until just before the turn for the stretch when Roberts pulled Fancyfreeshark out of second and quickly took command on the way to the six-year-old Four Starzz Shark-Fancy Art horse’s first win of the year. Jeremys Successor was alone in second with Izzy Real and George Dennis closing for third.
Glassmeyer also started Braden in the $20,000 Male Claiming pace. The altered son of Arts Chip-Tammy C Tresa wired the field in 1:52.4 for his second win in his last four starts. Lord Terror and Dennis were second while Lightning Moon and Brad Hanners finished third. Braden was claimed from the race by trainer Joe Hundertpfund.
The first of the consecutive winners came when Lost Heart and Roberts scored a 1:55 win in a Delaware $15,000 Claiming pace besting Political Terror and Ross Wolfenden in a tight photo and The Quiet Village, with Tony Morgan, third.
A possible fourth win was thwarted when Apache Renegade and Allan Davis won another $15,000 claimer with Glassmeyer’s Poker Shark and Roberts having to settle for a second-place finish.
Along with the three wins by owner-trainer Glassmeyer and driver Roberts, Davis also had a triple, Eric Carlson had two wins while Vic Kirby drove both winners of the daily double.
Monochromatic is the one to beat in the Monday headliner, a $23,000 Mares Open Handicap pace.
