Kawartha Preferred To Harnessnitencanada; Allard Triples
Rene Allard celebrated a training triple and Harnessnitencanada won a nail biter in the $11,500 Preferred Pace during Tuesday’s 12-race card at Kawartha Downs.
Harnessnitencanada watched a wild battle take place on the lead before swooping down on the tired tempo-setters and taking home top prize in the Fraserville oval’s main event. Sylvain Filion got away sixth with the Richard Moreau pupil while Sleek Hunter, Upfront Hoosierboy and Machal Jackson waged three-wide war to the quarter pole in :27.3. Sleek Hunter and Upfronthoosierboy were separated by just three-quarters of a length at the half in :58.2 with Machal Jackson racing from second over and Harnessnitencanada commencing a rally from third over.
Sleek Hunter and Upfronthoosierboy were still going at it to the three-quarter marker in 1:27, with Machal Jackson three-wide again and Harnessnitencanada licking his chops while racing fifth and parked around going into the final turn. Harnessnitencanada uncorked a :29.2 closing panel which was good enough to earn him the win by a head over Royal Outlook in 1:56.4. Race favourite Upfront Hoosierboy, who was parked every step of the mile, came up a half-length short and settled for third.
GAAR Racing Stables of Thornhill, ON and Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, QC share ownership on Harnessnitencanada, who improved his 2013 record to 2-0-1 from six trips to the track. The seven-year-old son of Rambaran-Armbro Poppins is now a 21-time winner who has banked more than $230,000 to date.
Rene Allard, in the meantime, enjoyed another multiple win performance thanks to the efforts of Angelic Star (1:57 - $8.90), Martino (1:59.1 - $5.90) and Hopskipanajump (1:56.4 - $12.20).
The Quebec native has produced 56 winners this season for purse earnings in excess of $400,000. The career winner of 1,764 races recently surpassed $14 million in lifetime earnings.
