Win Streaks Continue At Flamboro
Pacer Radiant Guy and trotter Starlitestarbrite shared the spotlight at Flamboro Downs on Friday night, both keeping their respective win streaks alive.
Radiant Guy ($3.40) returned to action in the second race after a three week layoff and cruised wire-to-wire to notch his sixth win in a row. He stopped the clock in 1:58.1 over the 'good' surface with J Harris in the sulky. Trainer Jack and Leslie Harris of Hagersville, Ont. took over the ownership of the four-year-old Camluck gelding four wins into his streak early in January.
Aiming for his fifth consecutive score, Starlitestarbrite ($2.20) later romped to a 1:59.2 triumph in the eighth race with J.R. Plante at the lines for trainer Rene Allard. The five-year-old son of Angus Hall, who has won eight of his last nine starts, is owned by Allard and Brian Cassell of Gloucester, Ont.
In other racing action, horses and drivers appeared to avoid serious injuries following an incident in the seventh dash. Racing first over past the half-mile mark, Lexis Mandy, driven by Travis Henry, broke stride causing interference to the second over Bed Shy, who fell. Driver Anthony Haughan managed to remain seated in the sulky during the mishap while Bed Shy quickly returned to his feet. Both horses returned to the paddock under their own power.
