Six For Callahan; Three For Artstanding
Artstanding appears to be getting better with age. The 10-year-old turned in a lifetime fastest 1:50.4 mile to win his claiming assignment Tuesday at Dover Downs while Corey Callahan added six-wins to his track-leading total of 179 and his 2013 North American leading total of 97.
Artstanding, in rein to Callahan, got away third before marching to the lead before the half. He was in control of the tempo at the mid-way point :54 and he continued to lead the way at the three-quarter pole in 1:22. A :28.4 closing panel was more than enough for the veteran to seal the deal in 1:50.4. He won by 3-3/4 lengths over Aidens Artist and Pike Hanover.
Dylan Davis trains the son of Artsplace-Jasmine Hanover for Standardbred Ventures Inc of Merrick, NY. It was the fifth win of the season and the 13th lifetime tally for the career winner in excess of $700,000.
Callahan also clicked with Jerseylicious (1:53.1), Rockin Gazelle (1:55), Lislea Miles (1:57), Pegasus Blue Chip (1:55) and Phranque (1:53.2).
