Europan Union sprinted to the front and didn’t look back in Thursday’s $30,000 Delaware Special Handicap at Dover Downs.
The six-year-old son of No Pan Intended-Pansatlantic carved out fractions of :26.2, :55.1 and 1:22.3 for driver Jim Morand before using a :27.2 closing quarter to seal the deal. Europan Union held on to win by a head over Rustys All In in a personal best clocking of 1:50. Malak Uswaad N rounded out the top three finishers in the featured tilt.
Ed Gannon of Dover, DE owns and trains the 18-time winner, who improved this year’s record to 2-1-0 from just five trips to the track. The pacer bumped this year’s bankroll to just shy of $30,000 with the winning effort, while his overall total grew to $492,365.
