Lets be clear...Queens Park may have been aware of all those boondoggles....THE PEOPLE of Ontario were NOT as acutely aware of those issues and their impact on our tax dollars. Just ask Joe Public about why our industry is important to Ontario? Not many understand all the layers to this particular issue, those within the industry....it's crystal clear. If an election had been called based on the budget last Spring there was a good chance Liberals would have secured a majority. Now, add the teachers union into the mix and all that has been exposed....an opposition party has a better chance of dethroning this corrupt Liberal dynasty we've had shoved down our throats for the past 9 years.

Both NDP and Conservative party treasurers put their parties financial debt above doing the right thing and standing up to McGuinty,Duncan,Tananbon,Godfrey and for that matter the Ag minister of the day Ted McKeggan, It has always been all about the money so now with no where to hide the Liberals are feeding us yet another promise to do the right thing if re-elected with a so sorry we destroyed the horse racing industry, they all spin platforms to get elected- don't fall for soft talk keep up preasure and force your choosen candidate to put it in writting that the horse racing and rural Ontario will get their full support and if they are all in such agreeance that stopping the SARP was wrong then get a straight answer "will you re-instate the Slots at Racetrack Program as it was"
All parties are campaigning so make your support to them mean support in return.

Let's be clear on this point: Everyone was aware of the gas plant fiasco, the Ornge, AND the OLG fiasco prior to the budget vote. EVERYONE.

Everyone wants to look good in the publice eye. Let the OLG and Godfrey put their mega casino in Toronto (hopefully at Woodbine) and leave the current program in place for rural Ontario. Don't these individuals know what "no" means, Barrie, Ktichener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Hamilton turned down the casino's. Many more communities feel the same but for some reason the OLG doesn't get it. As I said once before, the OLG is only interested in padding their pockets with no compassion to the thousands of people and businesses in rural Ontario.

A breath of fresh air indeed. Ms. Horwath absolutely had a chance to call an election last spring, however based solely on OUR issue wasn't political reason enough. In the meantime, over these past months more and more information has come forth and the true bigger picture has been painted as to the OLG, gas plants and Ornge to name a few of the Liberal boondoggles. That, and the fact that they have now "tried" to work with a minority government and got prorogued..... Kinda lends itself to hope that this time around will be different, politically speaking. Ontario has much to lose under the current government and Jobs, whether maintaining the ones we have or creating new ones will be a top of any political platform going forward. OLG has no intention of including horse racing in an overall provincial gaming strategy as it stands....lets hope as Ms. Horwath has suggested this agency needs and gets a thorough review ASAP. For the record, I am a supporter of any politician or party who can get the job done with transparency and accountability at the forefront. The clock is ticking......

A breath of fresh air??? Sounds like more NDP blowing in the wind. We have seen before that Andrea likes to tell you what you want to hear and when push comes to shove, she sits on her hands. I’d say just a bunch of hot air!!!!

I think it might be appropriate to invoke the "the wheels of the grindstone grind slowly, but they grind" here. It is encouraging to see that the polictical tide is beginning to change as many are coming to the conclusion that the original "let's destroy the racing industry" decision, was very premature and totally inappropriate! Good luck with your challenge in influencing your decision makers to do the right thing for standardbred racing.

Ted, in answer to your question.... it's because Ms. Wynne is a clone to Dalton McGuinty and as per her direct quote on her leadership win, "she is going to continue his legacy". And contrary to her leadership promise to put a "pause" on the OLG modernization process pending a review, she is just going to allow Godfrey and his cronies to bulldoze the municipalities into an agreement to allow the US based casinos into their communities. Just more political rhetoric from the Liberals to stay in power with no substance....... God help Ontario.
