Five Wins For Devaux At Monticello
Jimmy Devaux is no stranger to winning races, especially at Monticello Raceway, where he won the driving title in 2002 and where he amassed the majority of his 3,077 career wins over the 'Mighty M' oval since the turn of the 21st Century.
On Thursday, January 31, Devaux capped a very productive four-day race week by scoring five wins on Monticello's 13-race card. Those victories followed three on Wednesday and two on Tuesday, and he is now positioned securely in second place behind Jimmy Marohn Jr. on the local leaderboard, trailing Marohn by only three wins (29-26).
Devaux began his Thursday assault in the first race with a 2:01.1 victory aboard Multiple Choice ($3.20). Victory No. 2 didn’t come until the sixth race, and then Devaux reeled off three in a row.
He captured Race 6 with Delightful Caitlin ($13.20) in 2:01.3, and then he came right back to score with Smooth Eric N ($16.80) in Race 7. Devaux then won Race 8 with Artemus Blue Chip ($16.80) in 2:01.2.
Win No. 5 came in Race 11 behind Delightfuldanielle ($21.60).
“I’ve won six on a card a time or two, but yesterday (Jan. 31) was one of my best days when you consider that most of my wins were not favourites in their races,” Devaux explained.
