J.F. Gagne Stables Profiled

In the final piece of a three-part series focusing on the dire times in the Alberta standardbred racing industry, the Edmonton Journal has profiled horseman Jean Francois Gagne, who is on the brink of losing his whole operation.

"Some of them (owners) don't want to keep going at all," said Gagne, who has an $850,000 investment in his J.F. Gagne Stables. "There's a pretty good possibility I will end up with a nice horse farm with no horses on it. It's about as tragic as it could be."

I feel bad,not only for J.F.,but for all the trainers, owners, breeders & even the fans of standardbred racing in Alberta.I have been a participant in the industry for many years as an owner, breeder & follower of racing & I am appalled & somewhat disgusted with the state of affairs in our fair province. The product here is very good & it is a shame that so many dedicated & outstanding people are going to be so seriously impacted by events that are beyond their scope & control.I abhor the thoughts of what seems to be happening to standardbred racing in Alberta

this is a shame for JF he has worked so hard to build his life around alberta racing he is a good guy who deserves better.
